Listen In: Dream Studies

Today I’m pleased to share the title story from my new work in progress, Dream Studies–twelve speculative tales that intersect with issues related to race, class, gender, and the environment.

This story–like my novel, Hot Season–is set in Prescott, Arizona, and it revolves around a persistent local myth, of a network of tunnels once used by the Chinese. “Dream Studies” took me into some deeply subterranean territory, literally–the Shanghai tunnels of Portland, the barbaric basements of San Francisco’s Chinese brothels, the buried city of Tenochtitlan.

It also took me deep into the collective unconscious, I believe, of the US of A.
